It happened quite by accident (hence the name ‘Accidental’ - Heh), as I began my first batch of Christmas cookies for the 2005 season.  I was making a double recipe of the original Nestlé Toll House chocolate chip cookie recipe.

I immediately noticed it when I finished mixing the chocolate chips into the cookie dough.  It was much stickier than I remembered it.  I bake a decent number of cakes throughout the year, but since I typically reserve baking cookies exclusively for the holidays, it’s pretty much only an annual event.  As such, I dismissed my initial reaction, and overlooked the inconsistency of the consistency of the cookie dough as my simply not remembering it from years past.
